10 Minutes a Day, Do It Your Way

BlogIMG_2058

You’re probably thinking 10 minutes a day, yeah right! I don’t even have 5 seconds to myself. I’m hiding in the bathroom as I read this blog. Seriously though, if you and I could make a day be 24 hours and 10 minutes. What are 1o things you would do with that extra time?  I began asking myself this question, as a way to get more out of my time, discover my suppressed passions, and keep my eye on what I value.

It is so easy to go through the motions of life and forget to live. The hustle and bustle of life demands, making a living, and living for others demand most of our time. We often forget to enjoy and be present in the moment.   I remember when I tried yoga for the first time it seemed like the longest hour and a half of my life. Why, because my mind wouldn’t rest, it was a struggle to  forget about everything I had going on. As you read this, how many times has your mind wandered or you’ve been interrupted. I’m guilty of doing it as I write this blog. I am starting a new job, ending vacation,  and dealing with the residual effects of  an illness. I have a million things to accomplish in a relatively short amount of time, all functioning at about 70% due to things beyond my control..

Most of us generally spend a minimum of 8 hours at work, sleep an average 7 hours, and use about 3 hours taking care of family. Roughly, we are left with about 6 hours,  not factoring in working overtime, exercising, commuting, and well life.  We are lucky if we get a second to ourselves. Sadly, we can’t increase the hours in a day and we have to use the time we have available.  It is a challenge to do things when you have expelled all of your energy earlier in the day.  However, I challenge you to still carve out 10 minutes to do something for yourself. You need to be good to yourself, so you can be good for others. Try my ten for ten minutes a day list. Remember, you have one life, leave the sure.
