Makeover Monday- Quaker Morning Go- Kit

Welcome to makeover Monday, were I find something I like and recreate it healthier or more budget friendly.  If you are like most of us, you are constantly in a hurry in the morning and need something with protein, carbs, and the right amount of calories to fuel your day? Well, I found this Quaker Morning Kit at my local Kroger for $.4.99.  I got them on sale for $2.00 each, but the sugar and carb content was still too high. Also, at $5.00 a container normally isn’t very economical, so I decided to remake it because I really did enjoy it.


I love the idea, that if you are in a hurry or just looking for something on the sweeter side. The kit comes with yogurt, granola bars, and mix nuts with seeds. However, at  a little over 400 calories, 50 plus carbs, and 35 grams of sugar was just way too much for me. I knew I would be hungry later, so I needed to save some calories for a boiled egg.

How to Make a  Copycat Morning  Go-Kit

 You can use any container of your choosing, but I used 12 ounce parfait cups from Amazon. I used a digital scale to measure out my blueberries and yogurt.  First, you tare the scale with the cup on it, add about 7 blueberries to the bottom tare again, add 200 grams of yogurt, then put the cup insert in with the walnuts close it, and that really is all for the yogurt. Last, you will open the Belvita package and take out 2 of the bars placing them in a snack size baggie. Once, that is complete your copycat Morning Go-Kit is all done, and it is super easy and quick to make several servings ahead of time.

Ingredients: Greek nonfat yogurt, blueberries, Belvita breakfast bars any flavor, walnut mix. Also, you can use Blueberry yogurt, but be mindful it will raise your carb and sugar intake.

Makeover Copycat Go- Kit

  • 200 grams of Plain Greek Nonfat Yogurt- 100 calories
  • Walnut mix-100 calories
  • Belvita Breakfast Blueberry (2 of the bars)- 115
  • 1/2 cup of blueberries 45 calories

New Macros: 

  • Calories 370
  • Protein- 18
  • Fiber-4
  • Carbs 37
  • Sugar-25

Makeover Cost Total Cost: $15.00, but yields 5 servings,plus you will have enough bars left over to keep recreate another batch later.
